"The roots of homophobia are fear. Fear and more fear."
- George Weinberg

What is Homophobia?

Homophobia is a hatred or fear of gay men and lesbians in the LGBT community, which can lead to violence, hostility, and even death. Organized hate groups have viciously attacked homosexuals, and have used violent language or behavior in an attempt to cause intimidation or physical harm. In some states, such behavior can be prosecuted as a hate crime, buy many states do not offer sexual orientation or gender identity protections under these laws. [1] Violence based on perceived gender identity was not recorded in the report.
