My thoughts are with the friends and families as they grieve and honor the lives of Virignia Tech’s faculty, staff, and students who died unnecessarily Monday. As a student myself whose college and community have been suffering at the hands of violence, I can taste the fear and horror of those witnessing such acts.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

The University of Idaho and Moscow community celebrate nonviolence this month with events like The Clothesline Project, which honors domestic violence victims and will be on display in the Idaho Commons. The Clothesline Project was created to bear witness to the victims and survivors of sexual violence and to educate society about the dangers of sexual assault and domestic violence against women and children. Talk About It: National Coming Out Day, October 11

National Coming Out Day celebrates diversity and includes GLBT Allies, Talk About It at Noon: “Why I am a GLBT Ally,” “The Whiptail Lizard Lesbians,” “Kinkyboots,” and “Bachelor Farm.” Coming out doesn’t have to be about sexuality. Come out about your job, your spiritual beliefs, your love for someone, your friendships, or anything that feels personal and you. Coming out is about acceptance and tolerance.
